Welcome to my world! ๐
Hey there! I'm Sarthak Sarbahi - a curious mind hailing from the vast landscapes of India. Let me take you on a journey through my experiences, which have shaped me into who I am today.
From Mumbai's Bustling Streets to Hyderabad's Charms ๐
Growing up in the vibrant city of Mumbai exposed me to a melting pot of cultures and dialects.
While my roots trace back to North India, the 12 enriching years in Mumbai among such a diverse group of people have crafted many tales that I cherish dearly. Today I live in Hyderabad with my family.
Journey of Academia and Self-Discovery ๐
Off I went to Manipal University in Jaipur post-high school, stepping into the world of mechanical engineering. Yes, I admit, like many, I was a bit lost navigating college majors.
Yet, college was more than just studies; it was about volunteering, kick-starting my own club, working in startups, dabbling in content writing, and soaking in experiences from various corners of India.
Two Unforgettable Months in Ghana ๐
An internship opportunity took me to the heart of Africa - Ghana. More than just a work stint, it was a cultural exploration where I lived with individuals from across the globe, learning about the true spirit of joy and happiness, and igniting my love for travel.
IAESTE and Global Citizenship ๐
IAESTE, which stands for the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience, is a global student-run organization that offers technical internships to budding engineers and scientists worldwide. It's not just about internships; it's about building bridges between cultures and learning from diverse environments.
With IAESTE by my side, I embraced the world of global citizenship. My involvement led me to play an instrumental role in welcoming international students to India. Together, as part of the summer reception team, we ensured these young minds experienced the richness of Indian culture firsthand. From organizing events to travelling to various parts of the country, we made their Indian sojourn memorable.
The Shift to Data Engineering ๐ผ
Although mechanical engineering was my major, my heart soon yearned for more. I delved into business analytics and gradually found my niche in data engineering. Today, I wear the proud badge of a data engineer at American Express. If you're into big data, you might even come across a book I co-authored on optimizing big data workflows using Databricks.
Optimizing Big Data Workloads using Databricks isnโt just a technical guide; it's a culmination of hard-earned insights into the big data analytics platform in the cloud. Designed for both novices and experts, by the end of this read, youโll have a toolkit equipped to expedite Spark jobs and elevate your data processing capabilities.
Passion for Educating ๐ค
Navigating from a mechanical to a data background wasnโt easy, but the journey was enlightening. It's ignited a passion within me to guide others sailing in the same boat. If you're looking for insights into the data world or need a guiding hand, let's connect! I'm always here to help.
